Glassmorphism in Chrome

A frosted-glass overlay is three things stacked: a translucent tint, a backdrop blur, and a hairline border that keeps the panel from melting into the page.

Why the tint comes first

Blur alone cannot fix contrast. Start with a tint dark enough that text passes AA, then add blur to make the layer feel physical rather than painted on.

Per-site overrides

Some sites ship their own dark theme. For those, the overlay should get out of the way — that is what the site allow/deny list is for.
